My passions
...I'm just cleaning here...
My work is my passion because I love what I do.
I believe that no matter what type of work you do, you should put in your best, most conscientious effort. Then you feel satisfaction from your work.
I have done many things in my life, but my passion has always been caring for the environment. For nine years now I have led the "Clean Up the World" campaign in Poland, as well as many other pro-ecological activities. In order to achieve this, I founded the Nasza Ziemia Fundation (Our Earth Foundation). My actions have been recognised by State authorities - in 2001, I was awarded a Knight's Cross Order of the Revival of Poland and, from the most critical audience - children - I was honoured with the Order of Smile in 2002. These distinctions, to me, confirm that what I am doing is necessary, and that it is being done well.
I am happy to hear about any, even the smallest, pieces of news: that a tree was planted somewhere, that an illegal rubbish dump was removed, that ecological education has been started in a local community, that a local river has been cleaned up, etc. I'm happy to hear of this because it is all proof of a new awareness and a change in peoples approach to nature, to a friendlier one.
Despite my working hard - or maybe for this very reason - I also have time for fun. I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I also enjoy and know how to be lazy - this enables me to maintain both a physical and psychological balance. And I'm always lazy in an active way. I rollerblade, cycle, swim, and ski in the winter. I also love going to the cinema, or to a good concert, reading books, travelling, getting to know new people and new places. However, the idea of travelling to outer space does not entice me at all.
